Annual Calendar of Events

Following is an overview of major events that KGVB conducts each year, some of which are in partnership with the City of Grapevine.  To get details on specific events, see the interactive calendar on our Upcoming Events page here.

The Don't Mess with Texas Trash-Off serves as Texas’ signature event! In 2013, 2,166 Don't Mess with Texas Trash-Off events were held across the state, featuring more than 89,000 volunteers. All told, 7,403 miles of highway were cleared of litter and debris, totaling over seven and a half million pounds of trash!

October - Trash and Treasures Lakeside Clean-up

Volunteers will have a "sparktacular" time ‘treasure hunting’ along the shores of Lake Grapevine in search of sparkly jewels that are hidden in the trash.  When found, volunteers bring them back to base and cash them in for major prizes. Volunteers can treasure hunt by foot or boat.  Event includes live music, free lunch, drinks and giveaways. Additionally, a variety of demonstrations will be taking place that showcase the installation and usage behind many water-saving devices.

TBD - Get Growing National Planting Day

On this day, we offer a call to action encouraging Americans to plant native species at their homes and in their communities. ‘Get Growing’ provides a national stage for the important role that beautification and greening plays in our communities. During the ‘Get Growing’ event, millions of natives, perennials, bulbs and ornamentals will be planted across the U.S. that will create beautiful space. In Grapevine, volunteers will assist in refurbishing a major segment of parkland with drought resistant, low water plantings, as well as to learn about how plants affect air quality.

November - America Recycles Day

A nationally recognized day in the USA dedicated to encouraging Americans to recycle and to buy recycled products. This event provides Grapevine residents the opportunity to recycle household products such as electronics, household items, printer cartridges, eyeglasses, Styrofoam, mattresses and shredding of documents.  Accompanying this event will be an educational expo to include a variety of companies that provide recycling services and products.
